IU ranks first for two consecutive weeks on the Billboard K-pop Chart
Solo artist IU has kept the number-one spot on the Billboard K-pop Chart for two consecutive weeks. According to the latest Billboard Charts (November 2), the lead track, “Purple Shoes,” of IU’s third studio album, released on October 8, ranked at the top spot on the K-pop Hot 100 Billboard Chart for two consecutive weeks from October 18.
The song, with music by Lee Minsoo and lyrics by Kim Ena, was motivated by Andersen’s fairly tale “The Red Shoes.” It is of a classic, vintage style based on the big-band swing sound of the 1930s.
“Love Is,” the lead number on Busker Busker’s second studio album, released on September 25, ranked second, and Yoon Mirae’s “Touch Love” ranked eighth on the chart. “Touch Love,” released in August, from the sound track of SBS’s drama series Master’s Sun, continues to remain popular even though the series has ended.
