LE SSERAFIM Get their first award at MTV VMAs

The girl group LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) achieved their first award at a major American music ceremony, the MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMAs), since their debut.

On September 11 (local time), LE SSERAFIM won the "PUSH Performance of the Year" award at the 2024 MTV VMAs, held at UBS Arena in New York. They beat 11 global artists, including Chappell Roan, Benson Boone, and Laufey, to take home the trophy. Through their agency, Source Music, LE SSERAFIM expressed their gratitude, saying, "We are so thankful to FEARNOTs (our fandom) for making it possible for us to receive this award. Winning this award and performing at the 2024 MTV VMA pre-show feels like a dream. LE SSERAFIM is made up of five confident women, and we aim to convey messages of strength, resilience, and even vulnerability. Knowing that so many people support and love us makes this achievement even more meaningful."

On the same day, LE SSERAFIM performed a solo stage during the 2024 MTV VMA pre-show. They opened with the track "1-800-hot-n-fun" from their mini album, captivating the audience with their stage presence and charisma. True to their title as one of the top-performing girl groups, their performance was met with enthusiastic applause and cheers from the audience. They concluded the pre-show with their latest title track "CRAZY," which was released just two weeks prior. Despite its recent release, the audience sang along throughout the performance, showcasing the group's immense popularity. LE SSERAFIM wrapped up the show amidst thunderous applause, affirming their growing presence in the U.S.

Earlier, LE SSERAFIM drew attention from local media by wearing outfits from a Korean designer at the red carpet event preceding the pre-show.

LE SSERAFIM's mini album CRAZY and its title track of the same name have also achieved impressive results on the U.S. Billboard charts. As of the latest chart (dated September 14), the album ranked 7th on the Billboard 200, while the title track ranked 76th on the Hot 100, marking a new career high for the group. 

Notably, LE SSERAFIM secured the highest-ranking spot on the Hot 100 among K-pop girl groups this year. Dominating both of Billboard's main charts, lighting up New York’s iconic Empire State Building in their official colors, and winning at the prestigious MTV VMAs, LE SSERAFIM is leading the way for K-pop girl groups in the U.S. music market.
