BTS member Jimin has solidified his status as the "King of K-pop" by winning first place in a popular vote in Japan for 18 consecutive months.

Jimin topped the monthly survey conducted by the Japanese Hallyu media outlet Danmee, which focuses on the "No. 1 Most Popular K-pop Male Idol" theme. The August survey, which ran from August 20 to August 27, 2024, saw Jimin secure first place with 2,852 votes, accounting for 45.78% of the total 6,230 votes. This marks his record-breaking 18-month winning streak.

Danmee highlighted Jimin's recent activities, noting that he released his second solo album MUSE on July 19, with the title track "WHO" continuing to perform well on the UK Official Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. Alongside the victory, Japanese fans left supportive comments on the voting board, such as "Jimin's voice and dance bring happiness every day," "Jimin is the best, I will always support him," and "I'm always captivated by Jimin's singing, dancing, and his continuous efforts," celebrating his 18-month streak.

This survey is conducted to capture the live opinions of Japanese K-pop fans, allowing each person to vote only once for a single idol, ensuring fairness in the voting process. Danmee selects 27 currently prominent K-pop male idols based on domestic activity indices, brand reputation, monthly mentions on X (formerly Twitter), and page views of related Danmee articles.

Meanwhile, Jimin's song WHO ranked 52nd on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 chart as of September 11, remaining on the chart for eight consecutive weeks. On the same day, it also ranked No. 1 on Spotify Japan's Daily Top Songs chart. Jimin became the first Korean soloist to achieve this feat, holding the top spot for a total of 20 days, further showcasing the overwhelming love and support from Japanese fans.
