BTS's Jungkook Wins 'Best K-pop Record' at 'AAA 2024' and Sets New Record for Highest First-Week Solo Album Sales
BTS member Jungkook has once again proven his status as a "record-breaking king" by winning the 'Best K-pop Record' award at the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2024.
On December 27, Jungkook received the 'Best K-pop Record' award at the 9th Asia Artist Awards (AAA 2024), held at the Impact Challenger Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. With his first solo album GOLDEN, Jungkook shattered records by surpassing 2.43 million copies in first-week sales, the highest-ever for a K-pop solo album, earning him the prestigious trophy in this category.
Previously, Jungkook's GOLDEN had made waves by selling over 2 million copies within just five hours of its release, according to Hanteo Chart data, achieving "double million-seller" status almost instantly. Furthermore, the album set an unprecedented milestone by ranking first in first-week sales (album sales in the week following release) among all K-pop solo artists, based solely on its release-day figures. Within two weeks, GOLDEN sold a total of 2,501,158 copies, making it the first solo album to surpass 2.5 million sales since Hanteo Chart's system revamp in 2010.
Despite being inactive in the entertainment industry this year due to mandatory military service, Jungkook has continued to collect numerous awards at various domestic and international ceremonies, solidifying his influence and star power.
