It has been 20 years since Seo Taiji and Boys debuted, and their fans have been arranging a special event to celebrate the big day.

Some fans gathered and organized a “Seo Taiji Choir” to give a special performance. They rearranged the singer’s hit songs into a medley and gave it the name “A harmony for Seo Taiji in celebration of his 20th anniversary.”

The performance will be held officially at the Sadang Cultural Center in Seoul on August 18.

The choir began to form in April when a number of fans gathered together voluntarily. They have been practicing over 120 days now, and the performance is sponsored by the Yonsei Digital Conservatory and Soundcat. Such love and enthusiasm on the part of fans make the performance very meaningful.

Besides a performance by the Seo Taiji Choir, fans have opened a digital archive of their “idol” to celebrate the 20th anniversary. At the beginning of the year, they conducted a fund-raising campaign and even built “Seo Taiji Forest” in the rain forest of Brazil to help people take environmental issues more seriously.

The singer recently posted on his website, “I don’t know why but today, I feel as excited and happy as the day I debuted with my first album when I was 20. I wish to keep this emotion forever. I hope that music can provide comfort and happiness to everyone in this coldhearted world.”

The singer debuted on March 23, 1992, and with his first four albums, titled I Know, Hayeoga, Dreaming For Balhae, and Come Back Home, were released from 1992 to 1995, he became a sensation. Moreover, he created a stir by mixing all different genres of music, such as hip-hop, metal, rock, gangster rap, and Korean classical music.
