EXO’s first studio album sells more than 700,000 copies in three months
According to a September 4 announcement by their agency, SM Entertainment, EXO has sold a total of nearly 740,000 copies of their first studio album, released on June 3, and the repackaged album, released on August 3. As of September 3, the exact numbers are 424,260 copies of first studio album and 312,899 copies of the repackaged album, which adds up to 737,159 copies in only three months.
This high-profile album received a lot of attention because the number of advance orders exceeded 300,000. After the album’s release, EXO proved their global popularity by reaching the top of various domestic album charts as well as receiving favorable responses in other Asian countries, including Taiwan, Thailand, and Hong Kong.
The group also ranked at the top of several music programs on domestic TV, including SBS’s Ingigayo, KBS 2TV’s Music Bank, MBC’s Show! Music Core, and Mnet’s M-countdown.
On September 4, EXO will release another video, EXO Music Video Drama Episode 2, which is in the format of a TV drama.
